This webinar was a collaboration with BuildTech Asia Virtual Exhibition. The session attracted about 200 participants who had many questions for our panelist, consisting of female professionals stationed not only in Singapore, but also from overseas.
We started with Sheridan Ingram from John Holland, who spoke on how the National Association of Women in Construction in Australia has helped to champion women and how AWiCS is poised to achieve the same locally. Following up was Flora Nguyen, Head of Learning Centre Singapore, who shared with us how her company Hilti Asia Pacific, has embrace diversity and more importantly, inclusivity. We then had Alvin Sim, Project Manager(Tunnels) from Land Transport Authority. He shared with us the changes withinthe specialised engineering field of tunnelling, going from what was previously a taboo sector for women, towards the increasing inclusion of more women in this field of engineering. Alvin also shared how technology has further neutralised the gap betweenthe type of roles that different genderswere traditionally seen to be able to perform. We finally had Helen Lam of Lendlease Group, Head of Development Practices and Innovation, Asia, to share on the importance of equal opportunities for both men and women. She also touch on how to strike a balance betweencorporate leadership and motherhood.
