Er. Khine Hnin Yi

Khine serves as Technical Director at Aurecon Singapore and is a registered Professional Engineer specializing in underground engineering. She graduated with First Class Honours from Yangon Institute of Technology and earned a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus from the National University of Singapore.

Her career encompasses significant contributions to major transit projects across Southeast Asia and internationally. Notable projects include Singapore’s Cross Island Line, Downtown Line, and Thomson East Coast Line. Her international experience includes geotechnical leadership roles on the Kolkata Metro in India, the Large Diameter Road Tunnel beneath Egypt’s Suez Canal, and Melbourne Metro in Australia. Currently, she serves as Qualified Person (Design) for LTA’s Cross Island Line CR207 tunnels, connecting Clementi and Maju stations.

Khine employs advanced digital tools such as 3D finite element modelling and collaborates closely with contractors to integrate sustainable and innovative technologies aimed at design optimisation. This includes the design of Asia’s first vertical shaft sinking machine for Singapore’s Deep Tunnel Sewerage System, as well as Rectangular Pipe Jacking technology for the Funan underpass.

As an active industry contributor, Khine has authored numerous publications and presented at international forums, advancing global underground engineering practices. She is also the recipient of the Promising Female Engineer of the Year awards (2021) at both ASEAN and global levels, presented by Surbana Jurong. Beyond her technical expertise, Khine champions diversity and mentorship, serving as Vice President of the Society of Myanmar Civil Engineers in Singapore and advocating for women in engineering. Her dedication to sustainable infrastructure, innovation, and developing the next generation of engineers continues to shape the future of underground engineering.
